Take small steps and achieve bigger goals

Today I was reading about a renowned personality Christopher Sommer, a former U.S National Team gymnastics coach with remarkable experience of 40 years in coaching and building his students into strongest athletes.

One of the things he suggests is working on your weaknesses to become a greater gymnast. He says

“ When in doubt, work on your deficiencies you’re most embarrassed by.”

I think this advice is not just confined to fitness. Infact, it applies to everything we want to do in our life. Delibrately not working on the ability one lacks can put a person into devastating state later in life.

Thus, identify your deficiencies and take small steps everyyday to work on them. Maybe, just devote 10–30 minutes a day to your weakness and keep measuring the progress. Even a small improvement achieved in few weeks can transform one’s life immensely.

Before wrapping up, I would like to leave you with a thought from Sommer.

You’re not responsible for the hand of cards you were dealt. You’re responsible for maxing out what you were given.
